JB, do you like Wolverine's original mask? You draw it so well.

I noticed in the sequence leading up to this page, where Logan met Mac and Heather, that the “unpredictable” brashness he’s normally portrayed with has not shown up.•• Not a lot of opportunity, without contrivance.

JB, do you like Wolverine's original mask? You draw it so well.•• Thanks. It's a fun design but, again, has little or nothing to do with wolverines! (Legend has it that Romita thought a "wolverine" was a female wolf, but even that doesn't give the mask much sense as a design.)

JB - RE: the original plan for Phoenix (as recurring villain). From this reader's perspective, with the benefit of hindsight, it seems like subsequent new characters like Deathbird and Binary... maybe even Storm... might have been drinking from that concept's well.
Do you recall stories or new characters that were discussed for following through on the original Phoenix idea?
Thanks for your time

This is such a famous battle. It's wonderful seeing your depiction of it. What we know about Wolverine now (thanks to this story) makes you realize he had no business mixing it up with those two! I worry about his poor brain getting banged around inside that Adamantium skull.
Your Hulk looks spectacular too.
Thank you so very much for all of this.

Agreed, Bill. There is something VERY appealing when JB retells a pivotal comic book story element through his artistic lens. I wonder what it would be like to see a script and story from way before his time used by him to produce a comic with his story telling and artistic sensibility. First appearance of Galactus perhaps? =)

JB: (And, Ed, is that the image you intended to post?)
Ah yes. Not many good images of such a minor character as Catman. And I see what you mean about it being too "busy". That probably explains why there are no bearded heroes that leap to mind! Are there any at all?
Loving your new artwork on the retelling of the Hulk battle. One of my favorite scenes.

Dave gave a beard to one of the Legion lads. Feet to the fire I couldn’t tell you which. Walt gave Thor his more traditional beard. And, of course, leave us not forget Hercules!

The only bearded Legionnaire I recall is Star Boy but that wasn't until Keith Giffen's run.
