I love that last panel with Ororo and Scott catching up to "now" (that is, where we saw them earlier)-- the angle with Ororo coming down to the ground and Scott running is so well aligned. Strikes me as one of those things that is harder to draw than they might look. Edited by Andrew Bitner on 16 December 2021 at 9:00am

JB, was the High Evolutionary part of your inspiration for the Grand Designer in TRIPLE HELIX?

That close up on Jeans face in panel three today has a real late-70s era Byrne vibe (with a hint of Wrightson).

And Len intended his origin to be tied to The High Evolutionary as well.
If memory serves, that actually came from Chris and Dave.

Yeah. It was. My mistake. Len Wein really only had him mapped out as a teenager and a few other sketchy details.

"Still one of the GREAT character names!" < id="protanopia"> > < id="deuteranopia"> > < id="tritanopia"> > ....
Someone should start a thread on the best character names. I know I'm cherry picking here, but Marvel's ratio of gems to stinkers seems to leave DC's in the dust. Ultra-Humanite? Really?
Having said that, the Joker is probably the greatest name of a character will comparatively Dr. Doom is (compared to the quality of the character) probably the worst.

I'll take Ultra-Humanite over Hypno Hustler as a name anyday.

Today's page is a real treat. Poor Elaine. JB has a real talent for adding horror- esque elements. I recall an old Alpha Flight issue with a historic flashback that featured a face-eater thing. It freaked me out as a kid, in a good way.

It's 8:30am. I am sitting in my back yard and without warning, surprising even me, that last panel makes me laugh out loud! You nailed it! Those expressions! And so simply!
And in terms of narrative, so many possibilities.
This is so much fun.
Thanks JB.

Love it! The next installment could be called "I Married a Phoenix"... Or "The Fires of Love" maybe?
