This example has been mentioned a few times, but I don't think there has been an entire thread devoted to the topic.
Sometimes a great penciler and a fantastic inker have been teamed together only once (maybe twice). The first and best example I can think of is the great MARVEL TEAM-UP #70 where John Byrne was inked by Tony DeZuniga. (See Below.)
What wonderful or surprising penciler/inker pairings can you think of? (Scans/pictures welcome!)

Here's a unique one I just recently came across--Joe Giella inking Sal Buscema in MARVEL PREMIERE 21. I didn't even KNOW Giella ever did anything at Marvel!
It's just a little strange to see an inker I so associated with DC inking someone who was practically the quintessential Marvel penciler!

I know DeZuniga inked a few Gil Kane covers I don't recall him ever inking much Kane interiors. From All-Star Western #6.

The finished product is still nice, but I didn;t recognize it as Kane pencils.
(even with the up nostril shot in the second panel)

The first pairing that comes to mind is Don Heck and Tom Palmer in X-Men #64 -

(even with the up nostril shot in the second panel) ••• Maybe it’s because I’ve been playing this game for so many years, but I have no trouble spotting Gil on that page. There is so much beyond that second panel. The hand gestures are pure Kane, down to the construction of the fingers. The big floating head. Facial expressions.

DeZuniga also inked Kane on a nice three-pager called Timber Wolf (nothing to do with the LSH) in All-Star Western #8.

A surprise pairing was the inks of a young Kyle Baker over JB's pencils in Avengers Annual #14.
I don't think it all worked, but there were some beautiful and interesting results in there:

Gil was the probably the first penciller whose work I could recognize.
I loved the Byrne/Baker pairing.

Neal Adams over Rich Buckler, House of Secrets #90.I don't know of them pairing again.

I didn't find this out until years later, but right after I stop regularly collecting comics (which was sometime in the spring of 1993), Topps Comics released a JURASSIC PARK mini-series later that summer, drawn by Gil Kane and inked by George Perez (and written by Walt Simonson!).
Couldn't believe I'd initially missed that stellar combo by that much!
And yes, it's glorious.
