In the same vain as Gene Day inking John Byrne, even rarer was the oposite combo of Mike Zeck inked by Terry Austin. I remembered one cover (the Doom one), but it turns out there is at least one other, both posted below. The level of detail is off the charts, as could be expected.
Anyone knows if they ever did any inside pages together?

How is that “opposite”?

JB, I don't have it handy but that issue of The Champions you inked over George Tuska was beautiful. It looked like Tuska but with a very organic and detailed line.

Mike Zeck/Gene Day were a well-established artistic pairing at the end of the 70s into the early 80s.

John Byrne/Terry Austin were a well-established artistic pairing at the end of the 70s into the early 80s.

Austin inking Zeck can therefore been seen as having kind of vice versa element when put alongside Day inking Byrne.

And Vice versa is synonymous with oppositely, so I can see where  Athanasios was coming from.

Peter, thanks, that is exactly what I meant.

JB, sorry for the misunderstanding!

The HULK covers I posted led me to a number of DEFENDERS covers with one-shot (or rare) pairings.  Here's a rare Kirby/Klaus Janson pairing and George Perez inked by three inkers I can't recall working on him before.  They all look great!

DEFENDERS #42 by Jack Kirby inked by Klaus Janson

DEFENDERS #53 by George Perez inked by Bob Wiacek

DEFENDERS #54 by George Perez inked by Ernie Chan

DEFENDERS #59 by George Perez inked by Tony DeZuniga

And one more--DEFENDERS #60 by Ed Hannigan inked by Alan Weiss
When did Alan Weiss just ink somebody?  But then I guess Ed Hannigan laid out a lot of covers for others to finish, I believe.  Perhaps he just did more of the detail on this one before handing over to Weiss.

Rich Buckler on DOC SAVAGE is a dream come true!  Wish there were 100 issues!

Janson on Kirby is quite pleasing.

Defenders was absolutely bonkers in this timeframe!

More 70's DEFENDERS!

DEFENDERS #65 by Keith Pollard inked by Terry Austin

DEFENDERS #66 by John Buscema inked by Bob McLeod
This pairing must have happened somewhere else, but I don't know where!

DEFENDERS #67 by Herb Trimpe inked by Joe Rubinstein

DEFENDERS #69 by Herb Trimpe inked by Bob Layton

I note that these two Trimpe covers inked by Rubinstein and Layton are just a few months off from the two they inked on INCREDIBLE HULK--all have the "Still only 35c"!

The Big Three returned to DEFENDERS to ring out the 70's, with some fantastic covers!

DEFENDERS #78 by Ed Hannigan inked by Bob McLeod

DEFENDERS #79 by Rich Buckler inked by Bob McLeod

DEFENDERS #80 by Rich Buckler inked by Joe Rubinstein
What a gorgeous cover!  What a team these two made!  I only remember them teaming one other time, on DC SPECIAL #29 starring Captain Comet!  It was gorgeous!  I thought Buckler swiped from Neal Adams there but (looking at GCD) I see that Adams actually helped with the inking!  (And Klaus Janson and Dick Giordano too!)

How about George Tuska inked by Terry Austin in CAPTAIN MARVEL #54 -

Featuring a costume I never knew existed between the original and George Perez's re-design in THE AVENGERS #161.
