It’s really fun to see that commission piece as an actual cover, something I never would have imagined when I drew it!!

Big question now: how will the market react to the second volume?

Look at that cover, how would it not do well.. I think it'll do great!

My big question is why didn't Abrams send me an email notification of this Volume 2 release, since I ordered Volume 1 from them?

Seems like that would be their standard operating procedure for a client that ordered a book in an ongoing series!!!

JB: “Big question now: how will the market react to the second volume?”

Hmm. #2, huh?

Is there any way to artificially make this one also “#1?” They say that’s the
way to go with comic books.

You are right, when Magneto enters the scene the intensity kicks up another notch or two!

Oh thanks for the hint… YES that too!!!

JB - Funny to think about my contribution to your income was just really small cover prices for years and years now these volumes are finally get you nice chunks of cash, hopefully this one will do well and reward you well for all that fine art and entertainment you provide for us!

ELSEWHEN stands as irrefutable evidence that it’s never been about the money for me. 32+ issues created and posted FREE!

I got into comics because I loved comics. At first, I needed a real world job to be financially independent, but as time went by I was rewarded with steadily increasing page rates, the introduction of royalties, and eventually an income commensurate with the exploitation of the work I was producing.

Incidentally, if you hear about various writers and artists “fighting” for our rights, keep in mind that we were dealing with big corporations who could look at their books and see that MARVEL TALES sold just as well as any other Spider-Man book. The bean counters knew the talent was of secondary consideration—especially with legions of fans eager to work in comics for whatever pittance was offered.
