We had to put our Yorkie, Parker, down three weeks ago. We think she was
around 14 and she was at the point she couldn’t walk or stand very well with
her back legs. We took her to the vet for a quality of life visit and it was
determined she had some pretty significant nerve damage. So we decided
it was best for her if we went ahead said goodbye. I absolutely lost it. I knew
in my heart what was going to happen when we scheduled the visit but it
still devastated me. I miss her terribly. We got her and her sister, a mini
poodle named Snowball, at the same time and we had to say goodbye to
her last summer. There’s still a big hole from their leaving. The boy dogs,
Oliver and Eddie, now sometimes come to the couch when we’re watching
TV and lay where the girls used to lay. But it’s not the same. I told my wife
after these two are gone, I’m finished. I can’t go thru that any more.

Brian, I agree. One thing a lot of people tend to ask after my doggie passed is if I'm getting another dog. I can't ever see putting myself through that kind of devastation again.
