I was excited about this news, when I heard about it. While the treasury-sized books won't be done justice, at "normal" comic size, the implications allow for AE volumes, featuring high quality reproductions of the original art.... Between the Superman/Spider-Man art and the Batman vs Hulk art (and all of the hands involved in both books), that AE collection will be a must buy.

I'm excited that DC and Marvel are working together to give back to fans. Until the full solicitation is covered more, after going through the current Bleeding Cool list and my complete graphic novels, they don't collect the Wildstorm issues that you will find in DC Marvel Crossover Classics Vol 3, WildCATS/X Men TP (which is being sought by collector's) and several stories not included in a few Return to Amalgam DC/Marvel books. They do add certain issues to the Amalgam Omnibus. I'm wondering if DC/Marvel will produce the mother of all crossovers the legendary epic JLA/Avengers in another deluxe or omnibus? Including the main story and the bonus stuff found in the compenium slipcase hc and maybe more. This was definitely a surprisingly announcement.

Checking my DC Marvel Crossover Classics Vol 1, it states the Oz cover was the very first issue the two companies worked together. Then near 20 years later is the actual first crossover Superman Vs Spider Man issues in the 70's.

Marvel Comics didn't exist as a brand until 1961, right? Prior to that, they were Atlas.

When I started reading Marvel in 1962 (not counting coverless copies at the barber) there was a tiny MC buried somewhere around the logo. There was an “ah ha!” moment when they were “revealed” as Marvel Comics.

Mr. Byrne, as a person who has done a few Marvel/DC crossovers, was the experience fun? Was it relatively easy to get both companies editorial groups to agree on the story, use of characters? Thx

If that AMALGAM collection has AMAZON, I’m all over it. I didn’t see it listed amongst the issues collected, tho.

Just saw the cover for the DC vs Marvel Crossover omnibus and had been hoping it was a mock-up.... I am floored that they wouldn't use the Superman vs Spider-Man treasury cover or another classic crossover cover from that era. Isn't that why most people would be grabbing this?

They will be removing disgraced writer Gerard Jones issues of JLX and Magneix out of the Amalgam Omnibus.

I'll still keep DC Marvel Crossover Classic Vol 3 (for the Wildstorm issues) and double dip on these deluxe hardcovers.
