Won't have enough votes to override the term limits amendment, and SCOTUS can't let him run without proving they're corrupt.

After four years of constant erosion and abuse, he’ll just need to say he’s running and it’ll be “real.”
Could he win?
That depends on how free and fair the election is. After 4 years of erosion and abuse.

The irony here is that it was the Republicans who pushed thru the two term limit. They didn’t want Truman turning into another Roosevelt. But all they really accomplished was blocking Eisenhower from a third term.

… and SCOTUS can't let him run without proving they're corrupt. ***** That hasn’t really kept them from helping him so far. I don’t think k they’re at all worried about being seen as “corrupt.”

Since it's being April 1st today I was hoping to read a headline saying:"Trump has Constitutional Crisis, his bowels just dropped right the fuck out"
Still trying to brace myself for a return to the '30s...

It's just red meat to throw at the media so they can get ratings and focus on things most people can understand and about which they can get in an uproar. You'd think after ten years they would figure out his m.o. by now.I've said it before, he's not a complete idiot.

“Just red meat”—Does that mean you don’t believe he wants a third term, Ron?

I realized something after I made my previous post:
How to stop Trump if he's allowed to run for a third term? Obama as the Democratic nominee!

@Mark: I think he knows he's better served when the media is focused on nonsense like this rather than doing the harder, less sensational work of in-depth journalism calling him to task on issues that actually affect people's lives. He plays the 24 hour news cycle like a fiddle, and more often than not they are only too happy to gobble it all up.Did anyone really think that he thought President Obama wasn't born in the U.S.? That went on for months.

I think what they are trying to pull is to only prevent a President from serving more than 2 consecutive terms. So that only leaves the ghost of Grover Cleveland as a contender.

"Chinese President Xi Jinping recently consolidated power. He’s now president for life. President for life. And he’s great. I think it’s great. Maybe we’ll give that a shot someday.”
--Donald Trump, 2018
When he institutes martial law, him crowning himself becomes that much easier.

*** I don’t know what bigger story is out there.
When an authoritarian gets elected president and immediately defies the courts and beats congress into submission, installs a cabinet of flunkies and corrupt incompetents, launches a bit-coin slush fund for accepting bribes, brings in an unelected billionaire to seize control of every department of government, you are just waiting for the next shoe to drop.
At what point does it stop being news that our authoritarian president is bashing apart the U.S. government from within so he can rule it any way he pleases for as long as he pleases?
