I know Tom Sutton did the early post-transformation Beast stories and that John Romita Sr. did most of general designs for Marvel at that time, but this cover and splash page by Jim Starlin for AMAZING ADVENTURES #17 make me wonder if he had something to do with Hank McCoy's furry look.  The new Beast's hair, ears, basic "beastly" facial features match Starlin's Pip and various other supporting characters, villains, and background aliens.  Is there a connection or is it somehow just a coincidence?

I recall a lot of Veitch exercising his Kirby takes that he'd been doing in the other Moore/Liefeld books in the year prior.  It was fine - Veitch is great at it but there's a limit to how much someone can do their most expressive work when they're directed to hit the 'pastiche' button over and over.

Oddly enough, the thing that sticks out in my memory was Chester Brown inking Bissette (?) on one of those stories.  Notably distinct and pleasingly weird.

And, strangely (?), I liked his retro work in SUPREME much more than the whole 1963 thing (also a much, much better book overall, I know).

Those Silver Age DC, EC and even MAD pastiches were great while the Marvel ones in 1963 fell flat. 

Maybe they had more affection for those than they do for Marvel. We know Moore certainly does.

   

I remember Jim Starlin writing and drawing one 2-part Batman story decades ago when I was a kid (and then, of course, he did a lot of writing for the character, drawn by Jim Aparo or Berni Wrightson), but apparently it's still one he's asked to draw a lot for commissions/fans.

(Why oh why has he never had a GREEN LANTERN run?!?)
