Unfortunately, 538 has decided to completely suspend its simulations until Harris is the certified Democrat candidate.  Not sure of the logic behind that decision, but that is their business.

So far, it looks like most of her possible VP candidates are either AGs, have military backgrounds, or both.

Choosing a VP candidate for Harris is an incredible chess game.  Who can bring in a demographic, or carry an entire state, that Harris might not be able to do on her own?  Everyone is realizing that Trump’s pick of Vance is just “more of the same”, and he won’t bring anybody in the door who was undecided about Trump.

But if Harris wins, the VP must leave their current position, and will that create a new problem for Democrats?  Eg. Arizona went Democrat for President in 2020 for the first time in decades, so there is much talk of inviting Senator Kelly to be VP to help carry the state again.  But with a 50-50 split Senate, maybe it is more important to leave him where he is.

Peter,

With your opinion,  especially with the democrats trying their damnest to hold on to the senate, she could be going towards Buttigieg.

But, is America ready for gay man to hold the second highest office in the country?🤔

The racist white folks lost their minds when Obama was living at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Can you imagine a Black woman and her Jewish husband there?

Along with a gay second-in-command?

The MAGAts would go nuclear. 😡

Buttigieg never fails to impress me. He's a policy nerd who loves retail politics. He reminds me of Bill Clinton, but unlike Clinton, he stands behind his positions rather than softening them to placate Republicans in a doomed effort to triangulate.

I think he would remind many voters of their daughter's high school boyfriend who they loved and always wondered why it didn't work out. If America is ready for any openly gay VP, it would be him.

Unfortunately, I don’t think America is ready for that. I’d love to be proven
wrong, tho.

So, the clownish felon is scared to debate the Democratic Presidential nominee... and a prosecutor.... not even surprised.

I like Buttigeg, but IMHO he doesn't move the needle. Shapiro might help lock in PA and that would be huge.

I’m not sure there’s a winning play for Trump on the debates. As damaging
as the weakness and insecurity telegraphed by this Kübler-Ross bargaining
has already been, it’s still probably considerably less than the damage that
could be inflicted in an actual debate.

Assuming a debate ever takes place, beyond the predictable prosecutor v
crook dynamic, Republicans have been selling Harris as a vacuous,
inarticulate clown. The public will judge any performance failure short of
Biden’s in the last debate a win on the GOP’s own metrics, no matter how
hard MAGA spins it.

Although, as someone always points out, debates don’t win the election.

He wants the debate on FOX with a full audience and the same rules as the one he had with Biden.

Of course he does. Because it would be an audience completely hostile toward Harris and biased toward him, eating up whatever nonsense he spews.

Yeah, he's ducking her the same way he ducked the draft.
