Seems Kamala Harris has trained her focus on Josh Shapiro & Tim Walz in the final hours of her process to select a running mate.

Hope it’s Walz.

Of those two, Walz for sure, but neither move the needle for her in either direction.  Granted, few VP picks do help the candidate, but many hurt (i.e. Palin).

And it's Walz.

Didn't know much about him, but from my quick review I'm pretty happy about this.  I was actively dreading Shapiro, simply because there's no way it wouldn't make the entire election season a referendum on Israel/Palestine. It should be a part of the debate, but given Trump's entire focus on identity politics and ability to manipulate anger and apathy, combined with the vast mistrust of American Jews on the progressive left, it feels like Shapiro would take all the rest of the oxygen out of the room, as the campus protests did in the Spring.

A Black woman (shush!) puts more than enough strain on the feeble minds of too many voters. Black/Jewish would have broken their brains.

Walz is a reasonable choice.

Yep. And that's also a coalition that's decades in the rear view, so it doesn't speak to where (mentally/emotionally speaking) the current Democratic Party and its various constituencies are today.

Excellent composition, shades of 2008.
Walz is her Biden, Vance is his Palin.

Expect the media to revisit the 'Minnesota trope' about the history of its politicians on presidential tickets.
I feel like Walz was the 'safe' pick between Shapiro(who should never have been considered 'unsafe', but war in the Middle East is what it is), and Mark Kelly(a Kelly-Vance debate would have set a record for 'F bombs').

Seems like a solid pick to me.

I am surprised that Kamala didn’t pick the Governor of Pennsylvania, since Penn + Wisconsin are the only two states where she is not currently leading that she needs to flip before election day.  But I trust she and her team viewed the VP pick from many angles, potentially including scandals nobody knows about (yet).

Democrats are rallying together... and MAGA is stumbling over themselves. The upcoming DNC should be very inspiring.
