Anybody here collect or play with Legos?
I started building them recently and have found them to be kind of relaxing. They also make nice decorations.
So far, I have done the Great Wave, Starry Night and Tranquil Garden. They are quite addictive!

No, but my 23 year old stepson has plenty: Boba Fett's helmet, Mjolnir, The Infinity Gauntlet, and a few cars.
Last year for Christmas he got some knockoffs from Temu that make various sneakers.

I don't do it often, but I like building lego. The last one I did was the 1966 Batmobile. Took a while, but great fun.

For me, the sticking point is the price. There are quite a few sets I want, but they cost too much.
(The 1966 Batmobile and `The Beast' from The Fast & The Furious are two that I want.)

Yup, Star Wars, Harry Potter (a big modified Hogwarts) and other odd things to build. All fun stuff.

I have only bought sets that have gone on sale. I set up an alert on Slickdeals to notify me.

My son was heavily into Lego (still likes it but gets distracted by other things - coding & gaming with his mates mostly.) Someone bought him a Lego Mixle when he was two or three & we thought we would give it him to see whether he would like it. Built it in minutes. We were shocked. Bought him another, same thing. He’d build things out of cardboard, but this made us realise that he really was into engineering (slight digression, a couple of the things he built out of cardboard by the time he was five. A printer/laminator combination because why should you need two separate machines? & after watching Tim Peak blast off to the moon, a cardboard launch pad, rocket & travel to the moon progress slider).
So anyway, back to Lego. Loads of the stuff. A lot of Star Wars, Angry Birds, Mario. He did build the massive Bowser they made, but I think that kind of did him in as after that he started to build less. We have talked about it & it seemed to be a combination of it being just a bit too relentless, coupled with everything just being yellow - too little variety. It became a chore & a ‘I have to finish this before I move to my next one’, by which time he was needing a break that seriously depleted his enthusiasm. Hoping to get us to build something over Christmas, but I look back & wish I could have convinced him to have abandoned Bowser - but that’s something you can never get him to do.

My son is ten and also a massive Lego fan - like your kid, James, he also has always loved building stuff out of cardboard boxes.
We’ve mostly been Star Wars Lego builders, but we have an increasing number of sets from Harry Potter and Minecraft. Christmas this year was Lego intensive. To be honest, my wife and I have also started gifting Lego to each other - she loves the Harry Potter sets, and her big gift from me this year was the Chamber of Secrets.
There’s just an awful lot of Lego in this house.
Probably a fat chance since this is, by definition, a forum filled with collectors, but if anyone is looking to get rid of unwanted sets, let me know.

I grew up in the 70s playing with Lego constantly. Parents couldn’t afford the latest big thing so I ended up building a weird brick version myself every Xmas. Still fondly remember building a huge AT-AT in hideous multicoloured bricks!
But I need to raise this (in a light hearted way !) —- the plural of Lego… is Lego!

My daughter has SEVERL sets, I hate them although I admit to being an enabler. I did however enjoy building Slave-1. Most recently, I bought her Barad-Dur, should keep her busy for some time.
