If for no other reason than his book on golden age comics...but for so much more.

Embarrassed to admit I thought he was already gone!

A massive talent.

There was a recent profile in the Times about how he'd been reinvigorated by a move out of the city several years before.

It's hard to gauge how impactful his theory of comics has been on my own view of the medium, because it feels like he pretty much built it single-handedly. RIP.

Nice run.

Getting a "Golden Age" assessment from someone who read those comics as they came out, and for the designed age group, was invaluable.

I was still on the fan side when I read his history. Wonderful stuff. Planted a lot of ideas in my soft little brain.

He was so accomplished, he was writing for Eisner’s Spirit when he was a
kid— kind of the original fan-turned-pro.

He really did it all. I want to get to know his work better. Time has come.
RIP.

Wally Wood did a two page spread for MAD of a syndicate Christmas party. Couple of dozen characters all precisely in the appropriate style. Off to one side was a little guy exactly as Feiffer might have drawn him, saying “I’m enjoying myself! I really am enjoying myself! If must be th confidence of talking inside a balloon!”
