Issue #110 on-sale date was 1978-01-17 with a Cover Date of April. Which means it would have a shelf life of 2.5 to 3.0 months.. But it hardly matters what was sold, rather what the distributor(s) reported as sold to Marvel.

Unsold copies were stripped of their covers, which were then sent back to the publisher as proof the books had not sold. Unscrupulous retailers would often bag the coverless copies and sell them.

Some comic shop owners came up with the idea of stripping the covers off their non-returnable unsold copies and passing them on to the retailers etc who were returning their unsold covers. The shop owners would get a share of what the retailers got back

This is called cheating the publishers. As a result the UPC box had to be changed on DSM covers.

Is that one of the reasons they started to publish the UK price on direct
market issues?
We used to have out]r own covers, but moved to shared covers during the
80s.
