While doing a job for Universal Studios recently, I came across a Byrne in their online assets. I was told to NOT use that art.

Because "It's ugly and lacks clean lines." Unfortunately, most of my career was spent working for "Buyers", or "Product Developers", not artists or art directors even. I once designed a Hulk shirt that was to look as if he was emerging from the shadows. So naturally it would have to be printed on a black or a very dark color to work. The buyer put it on a neon, lime green garment.

Ugly? Ha! Yeah right, maybe in Bizarro world. 
JB and Doom have always been a match made in heaven.
I so regret never commissioning a Victor piece from JB, back in the day.

I think it's because the gargoyle is ugly--and the guy didn't know that gargoyles are supposed to be ugly!
