In the Ace Frehley topic I saw you mention you may have seen Kiss in their very early days. As a 10 yer old in 1977 they hit my comics loving sweet spot but know they weren’t everyone’s taste

It made me wonder, what type of music you generally prefer to listen to when you’re working or in the car or wherever?

In the car, a mixture of movie soundtracks, some pop, and a bit of Gilbert and Sullivan for seasoning.

In the studio, I have worked in silence since the earliest days of my career.

Over the years I have many times been asked how I am able to get so much done. Of course, they’re asking for The Trick, and there really isn’t one. Usually I ask what sort of distractions they have in their workspace. Invariably it’s a TV or some kind of music. I tell them to turn those off.

This usually leads to protests. “I couldn’t work without any outside stimulation!!”

(One did try it, tho, and a few weeks later called to report he had doubled his output!)

Varied music tastes are always interesting and I always like hearing what people listen to when they have one. The way I answer when anyone asks mine is something I stole from the web:

“I can’t explain my music type, it’s just every song except the ones I don’t like”.

Thanks for the response!
