A new member of a FB group tried to post this as very early Byrne art. It just does not seem like anything I have seen before and the signature on the back just says no way to me. Still, best to get confirmation or denial from the man himself.
That being said, JB, is this your work? Edited Subject name.

Any recollection of what that PA3B would denote?

I would have been skeptical at first, but a telltale sign to make me think otherwise the almost subliminal trademark element - the curves on the wings. I feel that curves are one of the properties that JB's art that really elevates him above other artists, and most people don't even consciously notice it.

I’m pretty sure I have mentioned that I often use a french curve to draw short, straight lines. I find it adds a little extra “bounce”.

JB: do you recall if any of the instructors or fellow students ever gave you side-eye for producing fantasy or sci-fi (or any genre stuff) for class work?

JB, IIRC, you had a professor who was very negative to you, and you found out that he was also very tough on an art student from a few years earlier by the name of Roberta Joan Anderson aka Joni Mitchell. Am I remembering correctly?
