“Invisible”?

Who scripted that page?

Surely something editorial should have caught. I presume it was meant to be invincible.

Sal was a superb storyteller.  In my eyes, his art continued to get better.  I like his later work the best.

My experience with Sal was similar to my experience with Kirby and Mignola - it took me a few years to understand and appreciate what I was looking at.

But man, Sal could draw one hell of a comic book. Those THOR issues and that SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN run stand out as memorable for me. I don't know that I've ever read his HULK run, I should seek that out at some point.

Was very sad to hear of this. But what a long life, and what a fantastic career. R.I.P., Sal Buscema.

Thank you, Sal, for so much storytelling and power.
It was quite a shock during my late teens when I found out that Sal was his
best inker on those PPTSSM issues.
It made me wonder: was he always able to do that, or was it something that
clicked during only that period?
Always wanted to ask him.
💪🙏

Very saddened by this. Ashamed to say I did not appreciate his art when I was
young. But in recent years I've come to see that he just IS Marvel. Such clarity
and power in his storytelling.

Sal Buscema introduced me to Marvel comics. His artwork was so consistent & distinctly his own, and his run on The Incredible Hulk was second to none. A Marvel mainstay & comics legend with storytelling that packed a punch in his unique dynamic fashion.

He will be missed.

This is a huge loss for me and all of us. Sal was the guy who defined the Hulk's look in my formative years. Kirby and Sal.

I met Sal in the Nineties when he was in Chicago for a con. He and a group of Marvel artists came to see the Second City show I was doing at the time (and, aware that they were there that night, we improvisors tailored some of the improv portion of the show for them with a bunch of esoteric Marvel references. It was great to hear just those three tables laugh.) After the show, they all stayed and chatted with the cast for a while.
The next day, several of us in the cast went to the con and there, Sal brought me back behind his table and we talked for a while, asking each other questions about our jobs. He then offered to draw me a Hulk on a loose piece of paper at his table, which I still have. He was truly a generous and friendly gentleman. Thank you, Sal!
