In addition to Steranko (87) and Windsor-Smith (76), Larry Lieber is still with us at 94.

If we're including writers, Roy Thomas is 85.

It's not a punch if it's not a Sal Buscema Punch!

So sad to hear of Sal's passing.

I've mentioned before on the JBF that I grew up thinking that Sal was either the wife or sister of Big John Buscema (we did have the Pini's and John and Marie Severin, after all).

Loved his work, particularly when inked by Janson, but the issue I probably remember most was a Peter Parker one with the Enforcers.

You remind me, I did the same!

I grew up with a lot of Italian guys called Sally and Patsy, so it wasn't ever a mystery to me.

Terrible news. I first met Sal's work during his time on Spectacular Spider-Man in the 1990s. I bought the omnibus a few months ago. I think I'll read it again.

Rereading this thread, and remembering Len Wein showing me some of Sal’s HULK pencils and noting with delight that he sought different ways of showing Banner’s transformation every time.

After I posted the Jarella death panels a few pages back, I felt that I was remiss in crediting Len Wein for the script he provided to go along with Sal's depiction of a completely broken-hearted Hulk. It really added to the impact.

I think you mean you were remiss in NOT crediting Len!

JB,

Have you paid homage to Sal (or John) Buscema's work?
