I have just started to read OMAC, having never read it before (I think it came
out at a time my comic reading was reduced).
The Time Machine control console has a somewhat ‘familiar’ basic
configuration, albeit allowing for a reconfigurable nature.
I have a memory of you saying that you think the TARDIS console probably
needed more than one operator to work properly, just as the one in OMAC
requires.

Is this somewhat based on your ideas for a TARDIS?

Simple answer: no.

The Time Machine, btw, was my first extensive use of a 3D model.

OMAC is so, so good.

Long overdue for a re-read.

Too much to hope for a reprint I guess.

Story behind the comics: DC agreed to the original black and white edition conditional that I turn in copies of the pages before I applied the tones. This way they planned to do a color trade paperback.

I agreed to this, although it meant I could not do the pages Wally Wood style, using the grays to define shapes and even line.

And then……DC LOST the stats of the untoned pages. LOST THEM. Gone. Vanished as if they had never been.

So no color printing.*

Years later, when DC moved offices, the stats were found behind the flat files in the former editor’s office. DC was no longer interested in the color version at that point.

——-

*Not really connected, but marketing did initially solicit the miniseries at the same price as their color GNs. I insisted they could not rip off the fans like that. They responded that changing the solicitation would mean shipping three months late. “Tough,” I said, holding my ground.

So the book shipped late, as a result of which several projects of mine hit the stands at the same time—and OMAC was declared to look “rushed”.

All of you who purchased it for a buck less than DC wanted to charge—you’re welcome.

Firstly, thanks for moving the thread - doh
Secondly, anyone that thinks it looks rushed is an idiot.
The art reminds me of Next Men - my favourite series. And the
backgrounds! Excessive in their detail.
Loving it so far

It's great, I picked it up recently on ebay having lost mine in one move or another a couple decades ago.

DC has been publishing a lot of "deluxe hardcover" editions of material lately.  OMAC would be a good choice for that, especially if the black and white and color versions of the story were printed in the same volume.  It would only take around 400 pages to do that, so it would definitely be doable.

I really don’t understand why they can’t do a color version with the tinted
artwork. Have they not seen NAMOR?

Much less use of tones there.

Finished it.
That’s how you do something new while honouring what came before.
JB and time travel - just the best combination that there is.
Cannot believe it has taken me so long to read this.

With today's technology, is there any way to remove the tones from the image?
