Not gonna lie, I choked up. Last manned moon mission, I was just a baby. And my dad kept a young man's scrapbook through the 50s and 60s space race. Wish he still around to see this one.
Godspeed!

Fantastic launch. I got a little emotional, too.
I think I will again tomorrow, when (assuming all goes well) I hear Capcom say go for TLI...

I wish I could summon even half the enthusiasm I felt in 1969, but all I can think about is four people risking their lives to do what we did half a century ago.

Since the news reports switched to simulations once the craft reached a point where there were no outside cameras, there are already idiots crying FAKE!

Is this still a question? Stanley Kubrick admitted to staging it. His film version of The Shining is one long confession...if you know what to look for.
And consider this, if Neil Armstrong was really the first person to step onto the moon (as "depicted" in that famous footage), who was holding the camcorder? Huh? Think about it.

As the story is told, Kubrick signed on to stage the Apollo XI landing, but, perfectionist that he was, he could never get a satisfactory version of the lunar surface/lighting. Finally he told Neil Armstrong that the only solution was to shoot on location.

Having always loved the idea of space exploration, I've always been rather sad to have missed out on witnessing such a remarkable accomplishment of the human race. I'm stoked - and am especially stoked for my 11-year-old son! - that we get to witness history happening now. I'm also pretty damn worried about how it's going to go.

The first space mission I can remember was Apollo/Soyuz. Though I was born in 68 and as a kid loved anything NASA related, I don't recall any moon landings. Boy did I have lots of NASA-related toys!!
