"Conservative leaders express concern over the drop in birthrate, and have begun advocating for the removal of sex ed and prophylactics from middle and high schools around the country."

The WHO used to estimate that the population of Earth would peak at 10 billion around 2100.  WHO reviews their prediction every two years, and the peak year keeps getting moved closer to the present because of declining birth rates.  The most recent forecast is that humanity will peak at 10.3 billion around 2080.  Most of the population growth will happen in Africa and Asia.  The birth rate will drop faster and/or sooner if women’s rights progress faster then expected in Africa and Asia, allowing woman to decide how many children to have.

How does that work? They predict peaking at 10 bn in 2100 but because birth rates are declining, we get to 10bn faster?? Am I missing something?
