Byrne means raven, so I learned early on how to tell them apart. The easiest way is that ravens have feathery ruffs around their necks, almost like Elizabethan collars. Nevermore!

We put some bird food out last week. In those dangling bird feeders.
Within a day there was a magpie that would jump up from the floor, kick the
feeder with mealworms in, and spill some on the floor.
Eat those, jump up and kick it again.
Their mates just ate what was left on the floor while just the one did the
kicking.
The mealworms lasted a couple of days.
We loved watching that.

I went to a wildlife shelter near here (yes, it has a quite well-known TV show about it) and they had a raven... and once you'd seen it, you'd never confuse it with a crow. It was huge.

A 1kg bag of mealworms last us just a week! We see the
starlings giving the feeders a good shake to scatter
them on the floor, plus a cheeky squirrel do all kinds of
acrobatics to get at a fatball in a tiny free hanging
feeder.
My current rescue dog has a habit of hiding treats, he
will hide them under pillows, dragging the duvet back and
putting everything back leaving it looking undisturbed.
The trick that amazed me was him hiding a brown stick
shaped treat on a doormat with a striped pattern of
various shades of brown. He'd lined the treat up on a
matching shade of brown stripe making it virtually
invisible!
