Okay, so HERE is my janky iPhone shot of the Cerebus spread in question:


Up until that point, my comic fandom and my love of pen-and-ink artists were going on parallel but separate tracks. Sim and Gerhard were my first real understanding of how you could fuse the two in a powerful way.

Frank Miller from Sin City: Big Fat Kill #3.  Frank lost some fans as his style evolved to this harsh black and white on Sin City, but I loved it.
