Was thinking about how I love to visit film locations for movie and films (I lived down the block from the "Seinfeld" diner for 17 years, used to walk by the "Friends" apartment building on the way home from work for six years - it's a five-minute walk from the Huxtable facade), and I recently got to find the underground bar the main character in "Perfect Days" hangs out at in Tokyo.
Anybody ever found or looked for a comics location? There are so many in NYC of course. The Frick Museum, which is of course Avenger's mansion, Astoria where Peter Parker lived, there's a place in the West Village (also near the "Friends" building that just needs a Window of the Worlds...though if you go looking for where Gwen Statcy died, go to the Brooklyn Bridge, not George Washington. It's obvious that the bridge drawn was Brooklyn. I even once rented a car at the Westchester airport and said to myself, "This is where Cannonball and Illyana came in the beginning of New Mutants 29!"
Anybody live near a small farm in Kansas? Or the inspiration for the Daily Planet in Toronto?

As I visit my brother in New York I often take trips to some of the areas / places in the OHOTMU map of Manhattan just to get a feel for where they are.
He lives in Brooklyn Heights so I've got a good feel for Steve Rogers old haunt.

The nearest one to me is a place with a rough reputation
called Heath Town just outside Wolverhampton UK, where
Superman placed Lois Lane in hiding in her solo title a few
years ago. I have passed through it countless time by bus
or car, and had to spend an hour there 10 years ago for a
job.

When Ross Andru drew Amazing Spider-Man, he went out of his way to photograph New York City, particularly from high up, and use the reference in his art:

I suppose my closest location to my home in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada was a recent sequence in One World Under Doom when Doom transports himself and Valeria to Toronto City Hall. If you didn't read it, Doom has made himself ruler of the world, Val asks him if this is really for mankind's betterment (as he claims), so Doom brings them to a City Hall and says "Democracy. Defend the concept."

In an Iron Man annual (I cannot remember the number), the
town of Pottersville, NY is destroyed. It was the next town
over from where I grew up.

In the late 70's there was a series of 8 page back up stories in Action Comics. Air-Wave, fought a shooter at Six Flags over Texas on the Texas Chute-Out. That was just a few miles from where I lived at the time.
The artist had never seen Six Flags though, that was obvious.

I did like that, as a Massachusetts guy (though Western in the woods), George Perez chose Boston as the location for Wonder Woman but was never sure why. I liked that JB put her back in a fictional locale.

During a brief moment when I was being considered as the regular penciler on AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (the gig went to the admittedly more talented Keith Pollard) the writer told me New York was a character in the series. “The way Ross draws it,” I said, “but there’s no way I can give you that.” My access to NYC reference in Calgary was virtually nonexistent.
