Found a YouTube video declaring CHAPTER ONE to be this.

Didn’t bother to watch. CO was neither presented nor promoted as a “reboot”. So calling it a failure is starting at a false premise.

I saw that video and went "Huh?"

Has Spider-Man ever been re-booted, by the way? Just a thought that crossed my mind, as I'm not aware of any (and I'm not talking about alternate universes).

I thought CO was phenomenal. You really brought the quirky look to Spider-
Man that hadn’t been seen in a long time. That splash (you know the one) is
probably my favorite image ever of the character.

Such a failure, they offered you Chapter Two?

My old-man brain initially read this thread title as "McFarlane Spider-Man Relaunch". Probably need to start wearing my readers more often.

Caught the silly video…and it brought back fond memories of CHAPTER ONE.

If only we could get an Artist’s Edition. (Isn’t there an anniversary coming up??)

It will be interesting to see if Marvel attempts to cash in on the success of ELSEWHEN with a bunch of Byrne books.

I'm still a bit surprised that Marvel hasn't done a John Byrne X-Men Omnibus.  I believe that's the only major Byrne-drawn Marvel work that hasn't been put in a Byrne-specific omnibus.  I expected an omnibus of the original X-Men run plus HIDDEN YEARS in the same volume.  Marvel did HIDDEN YEARS as a separate volume but the original X-MEN run is only available split between UNCANNY X-MEN Omnibus 1 and 2 and not as a separate Byrne volume.

I really like the format that Abrams used for ELSEWHEN.  In lieu of an Omnibus, I would like to see Marvel collect the Byrne X-Men issues in a similar hardcover series.  I would divide it up in the following way:

Volume 1: UNCANNY X-MEN 108-109, 111-123
Volume 2: UNCANNY X-MEN 124-136 & PHOENIX: THE UNTOLD STORY
Volume 3: UNCANNY X-MEN 137-143

That way, if someone wants to read the ELSEWHEN timeline, they could read Marvel volumes 1 & 2, then ELSEWHEN volumes 1-3.  If someone wanted to read the canonical Marvel timeline,  they could read Marvel volumes 1-3 (ignoring PHOENIX: THE UNTOLD STORY).
