The cane/crutch I bought has a built in flashlight, which struck me as smart.

My wife uses a cane. We are always irritated by the amount of clueless people that carelessly walk around her, oblivious to the person with mobility issues and getting angry when she can't get out their way.
My father fought using any type of mobility assistance to his detriment. He spent the last few years of his life land locked in his house because he would not use a motorized scooter. He fought using a cane until it was almost to the point of his needing a walker. He fought the using the walker tooth and nail. My wife and I vowed we would not take the same path and use whatever tools we could to keep moving. Hopefully, we keep the vow, but vanity can be hard to overcome.

Please tell us you got a cool hand carved cane with the head of a dragon, and not some stainless steel thing with tennis balls on the bottom.

Were you shown proper walking technique with the cane? It's counterintuitive to me. I always want to use the opposite motion when I've messed around with one.
Hopefully, you never get to a scooter, but use whatever you need to get around. You don't want to end up trapped in a lift chair for years.
