Kind of how I felt with the Citizens United decision and corporate "personhood".

The exercise of free speech is one of those things that requires constant vigilance. Karl Popper's The Open Society and its Enemies is basically my holy text in this regard, as he wrestles with the question of how liberal societies can safeguard against the rise of Fascism by being... let's say 'intelligent' with their approach to free speech.  I don't know if he coined the term, but it's called the 'Paradox of Tolerance'.

It's as if Sinclair Lewis is writing the government.

“She used to be a democrat!”

This statement washes away all Tulsi’s sins.

If the fictional Manchurian Candidate had won, what sliver of difference
would exist between his first six weeks and Trump’s?

The “doomsday clock” for the age of the neo-fascist is seconds from
midnight.

I'm not sure what people expected re: stripping security clearances.  This is politics.  It isn't a Sunday picnic with friends and family.  Politics is dirty business.  It always has been.  It always will be.  It is naive to think otherwise.

Again, Gabbard was only a Democrat in name only, running Dem in a very blue state to win.  Nothing she said or did during her Dem days was for the benefit of the party.  I was suspicious of her when I first heard of her.

And there was a charming anti-gay video her dad did that she participated in when she was younger.

She’s also got no allegiance to the Republicans either.  She’s a “where the winds blow” politician.  Doesn’t really stand for anything and those things she has been publicly supporting are Russia and Assad, of all dictators.

Just because a person doesn't agree with US foreign policy orthodoxy ≠ they support something.

Which makes her a de facto Russian asset.

With her as our NSA chief, our spy networks are basically dead. Our
experienced agents have to assume everything that goes to her will go to
Russia. So all their sources will become Russian targets.

Further fucking us, Russia and China and all other adversaries will be
offering top dollar to pick up all our recently fired CIA agents and assets.
