Brian, I think you are thinking of Neal's DOOMSDAY+1 pinup*, which was all him.
* I can't imagine the thrill of being industry for just a year or so, and already Neal Adams is drawing characters you created.
EDIT: I forgot that JB owns it! Double Thrill!!

Walt Simonson inked JB in X-Factor Annual #4 (part of the Atlantis Attacks ̶m̶e̶s̶s̶ crossover)

Simonson over Byrne is interesting but, for me, Walt's inks are too overpowering.

That Williamson cover looks MUCH better in the original black and white!
Plus Willamson inked a single panel of Wolverine#17:
Oh, what might have been!!!

Brian, I think you are thinking of Neal's DOOMSDAY+1 pinup*, which was all him.••• First time I saw that pin-up I thought it was pretty poor Neal. Then I realized it was really good me! (When Chris saw it he immediately wanted to write the story that went behind it!)

I realize I might be in the minority here, but I kind of like it when two artists with very distinct styles collaborate on a piece like the Byrne/Simonson above. It's interesting to see how you can identify the individual style of either contributor, like an alternate reality where either JB's style was more like Simonson's or Walt's was more like Byrne's.

+++++++
One of my single favorite issues of comic book art. There’s a page with a large splash and the way he inked it was just superb. Even now, when I see a splash of water in real life, I almost always think of that panel. If I could ever afford to buy a page of art, that would be amongst the first I would look for.
