I’m trying to remember - have we ever seen a JB story where every page was a cliffhanger AND transitioned to another part of the story? Like a "22 short stories about Springfield" situation?••• Don’t think I’ve ever done that, altho it’s a pretty good description of how Roger Stern used to say he’d write the Flash.

ITEM: Oh, yes, loving the TV cartoon "watching" the action! Say, that looks a bit like an animated version of Rog. Does Rogie have his own cartoon in the Elsewhen universe?
ITEM: Finally get to see Marvel Girl in action. This is a storyline that has months, if not years, of plumbing of storyline. It's great!
ITEM: Oracle's headpiece keeps distracting me; it looks, to me, so much like Ororo's. It doesn't quite take me out of the story, but I keep wondering...
ITEM: People are COMPLAINING about the daily cliff hangers? I LOVE THEM! It takes a very sharp skill to produce one every day! Far better than one every two months!
ITEM: That voice seems like a happy warrior, but we'll find out soon.

I love seeing a team member hurtled across a comic page! This is usually
Collosus' plight.
This series is amazing - you're exploring my favorite time in the Marvel
Universe, and it's a joy
I didn't know my Shi'ar to know that was Oracle when she appeared, sending
me to previous issues - just like when I was a kid.

I've been noticing just how clean John B's artwork is - no unnecessary lines. Very pleasing to look at•• Back when the proto-Image boys were beginning to make their presence known, I recycled the word "tonnage" to describe their line work. Lots and lots and lots of lines which, apparently, translated to "good art" for some fans. (Previously I'd used "tonnage" to describe writers like Claremont, who, also, seemed to win over the fans, this time with lots and lots and lots of words.)

I love the subtle way in the second panel that Jean stops herself from hitting the wall and is just holding herself in mid-air - with the shadow beneath her providing the reveal. Masterful.

At a guess: McFarlane, Silvestri, Liefeld, Valentino, Lee, Larsen.
Can't think of who else that might mean, unless we are also including Golden, in the sense of proto being an antecedent.

Lots and lots and lots of lines which, apparently, translated to "good art" for some fans.---------------------------------------------------- I am terrible at art. When I try and draw something I have to put loads of lines down until finally one looks how I want it. I then make that line darker. I carry on in this fashion until eventually something vaguely resembles what it's supposed to be but it took far too many wrong lines to get it right.
That's what I think when I see that scratchy art style that is still in vogue even today by a lot of in-work artists.
