What's with that THOR cover with the "70th Anniversary" banner?

In 2009, Marvel was celebrating their 70th anniversary, including the Timely and Atlas years, starting with the publication of Marvel Comics #1. Which was strange after celebrating their 25th anniversary in 1986 starting from when the company became Marvel in 1961.

Thanks. The banner reads as if it's the 70th Anniversary of THOR.

…one of my favorite comics as a kids was a Hulk / Sasquatch story. Was it in the Thing team-up book? It's been so long.

Are you perhaps thinking of the HULK ANNUAL that Roger Stern and I wrote, illustrated by Sal Buscema?

Trevor, your comment is precisely what I was trying to avoid by using the first part of my post. Just sayin'.

------

That's the first time that costume and haircut have worked for me. In the comics, it often looks like she's wearing a Roy Rogers cowboy outfit and a fauxhawk.

Not a fan of the made-of-ice Iceman. That was one of the dumber ideas to work its way into the stories -- and was largely ignored thereafter.

A translucent Iceman seems wrong for that era, too. I could be wrong, as I haven't read those X-Factor issues in years, but I seem to recall that when Iceman wasn't colored as completely opaque, the big X from his costume and a faint outlet of his body would ocassionaly show beneath the ice sheath.
