Lucky you Brian. I have been eagerly awaiting for my Robinson
commission for what seems like forever. I expect it to arrive in the next
week or so. Can't wait to post it. The man is a good guy and an
amazing artist.

Thanks Fred, this is commission number four Cliff has done for me, each time I'm amazed at his skill.
And as you said he is a really good guy.

I always think it's fascinating to see what artists come up with for my ongoing Marvel Team-Up 68 theme.  I gave no direction at all other than I wanted it to be Sal's version of that cover image.  He stuck very close to JB's original Man-Thing image but then gave me a pure Sal Buscema Spider-Man.  I'm very pleased!

Glad you enjoyed seeing this one JB!

I waited a long time for this piece, but John Lucas
delivered when the ink dried.

(First post!) This is an inked sketch I acquired from the great Will Eisner years ago when I took his class the "Cartooning and Sequential Art Workshop". It was a demonstration piece, and I asked him if I could have it. He was a very nice man, and a great teacher.

Bill,

Now that's a cool piece of art!  Love the story behind it!

Thanks Joe.

Mr. Eisner used to draw quick sketches to demonstrate panel layouts and such and he would give them to any of us students that wanted them. (I have a few of those sketches as well), but they are really loose and basically just stick figure drawings.

Well one day he was giving us a lesson on inking and brush techniques and he created the piece I posted above. Near the end of the demo I said, almost jokingly "I'll take that one." Everybody laughed, but Will said, "No problem." Then he took it off the board, signed it, and handed it to me. Everybody's jaws dropped open. Several people asked me for copies, and I happily obliged, but I still have the original. It remains my favorite piece of original comic art that I own.
