And here is the color version of my Lady Death, safe for work:

To answer Flavio's question: I have been trying to do texture, tone, etc in
Photoshop using layers and masks to make a Zipatone-like effect; and
these are my results.
It is done by:
1) making a pattern [i've been a) making regimented dot and line patterns in Freehand and importing them; or b) making repeating patterns in Photoshop and filling areas];
2) masking out everything, so that the pattern is now invisible;
3) erasing the parts of the mask that I want to let the pattern show thru.

I did this with the JB Calendar piece, and am now trying it with other
pieces.

You can see a "naughty" version of the above Lady Death, in which I used
a lingerie flower pattern for her gloves and boots (which was a repeating
Photoshop pattern) and the dot pattern for shading, by clicking this
LINK.

Very cool, Andrew. Thanks! Will look into this, though my Photoshop mojo
isn't quite there yet.

Apologies to those on the Third Rail "This week" forum for the repetition...
Are there people who post here who AREN'T looking at the This Week stuff?

Anyway, I don't know who all Lady Death is, but I'm trying to be a
particpator, so I took a stab at it with my own interpretation.

A page I found of Alan Davis' on the net photocopied from pencils.
What fun! On 8.5x11 20# bond with a Faber Castell PITT Brush. 3hrs.
BUT I was baking wheat bread and burning a Radiohead bootleg at the same time, so maybe if I was focused....
He draws a great female figure, no? She's so curvy!
