I thought about NEXT MEN because it is, in my opinion, his best work. Iabsolutely love it.But I wasn’t sure it would be where I would suggest someone start.

I’ve often said that “The City on the Edge of Forever”is the best episode of the original STAR TREK, but it’s not one I would use to introduce someone to the series. Too far off-model.

That’s what I would say about NEXT MEN. Some of my best work, but quite atypical.

That was my thoughts, as well. Same for COLD WAR.

Add me to the list of those proclaiming JBNM to be JB's best work. It is an incredibly underrated series.

If COLD WAR had continued... Whew!

I’d love more COLD WAR.
but I was part of the problem there. I didn’t buy it until quite a while after
publication.

If its a gift and I'm trying to hook someone on comic books, I'm handing them the JB FF omnibus that collects his run. If that doesn't work, it probably wasn't meant to be.

And yeah, COLD WAR is a great candidate as well.

The FF run. That's the best intro to JB's storytelling.

I'm biased, because that run was my introduction to Marvel. And you really get just about everyone in that first 30+ issues. Really just felt like everything was connected.

I would vote for Next Men over FF primarily, but certainly not only, because it is all his. No "since Kirby" muddying app the impression.
