Even if Jahf might survive it... it doesn't even seem to put a hair (fur?) out of place. That's nice storytelling!!!•• You may notice that Jahf has been healing over the past several issues.

The talk about inking is making me start to wonder why it is still done. There is something definitely lost with all that starkness of black ink.
And just seeing how crisp your pencils are (I think even crisper/cleaner once you too abandoned the idea of ELSEWHEN ever being inked), it has to have been considered by other (accountants at least!)---of eliminating inking from the modern pipeline.
What precisely is gained by ink in the digital age?

Oh, and by the way, (if it was indeed you) I would award you a MacArthur Genius Grant for coining the term "argle bargle".
I can't stop saying it in my head ever time I see foliage.

JB, when you started on this project, you mentioned you were intentionally pencilling as if the pages would be inked. Has that remained true throughout?

Unconsciously, I've been making the pencils tighter and tighter. ("Ironically" this means most of them could actually be printed WITHOUT being inked!)

I would have liked to see how Scott Williams handled Elsewhen. Obviously nothing was set in stone, but he had agreed to inking the book. He posted a pic of his inks on JB’s Black Queen and Dark Phoenix a few months ago. JB’s pencils were from several decades ago, but Scott’s inks were faithful and clear.

In an online discussion about Elsewhen Mr. Williams mentioned he was “supposed to ink that series last year”. I never pressed for details, but assumed someone at Marvel had reached out to him and perhaps a verbal agreement had been made about inking or something like that. I can try to find the exact quote and pics if you are interested, JB.

Zoomable link for the page in question - LINK
And I was *quite* pleased by Williams' inks on those 3 pages of #273.

JB,
Had that come to fruition, would you have liked Williams as the inker of the series?
I agree with Vinny- I really liked the Uncanny X-Men pages you did together.

Neither 273 nor that con sketch come anywhere close to how I pencil now, so it’s impossible to judge what Scott would do with ELSEWHEN.

Bit of trivia, vis 273. An assistant editor called and asked if I would be available to pencil three pages. I said yes, and a few days later the plot for those pages arrived in my mailbox. BORING pages, but I turned them around pronto, and sent them in. When they arrived, I got a frantic call from the editor. The plot I’d been sent was for ONE page, not three. Of course, nobody had bothered to tell me that. Not even a note on the plot. “Hey, John! Been some changes! Only need one page!” sigh
