Count me among the frustrated and perplexed! Based on the words, I thought that surely there would be some major guest stars coming up. After all, when Dr. Strange explicitly asks "what meaning" could "images" of "great mystic power [and] evil" have for him, how could he NOT seek this out?! What did he do? Perceive Dark f@ckin' Phoenix and then shrug and make a cup of tea?! And Reed... ignores a power rivaling Galactus!? RED ALERT, nu?!
Anyway, this ELSEWHEN story is going to some good places! YAY!

The landscape from high-altitude looks great --- all these (time consuming) wonderful visual details you include! Amazing.
Are you sure you don't want to stretch this story out over another 6 issues? Just asking...helluva ride.

Thank you for explaining that page with the FF, Dr. Strange, and the Surfer. I also wondered, "This is a Galactus level threat, and NOBODY FOLLOWS UP?!?!?" Either those others shouldn't have noticed it, or if they did, they should have pursued it. Surely if Cyclops could determine that Dark Phoenix was returning, those others with much greater awareness of the cosmos could.
And honestly, I also missed... "Such power! Such majesty! Such potential savagery! It must belong to... DOOM!"
I would love to see this go on... but I am absolutely positive that you have even BETTER in the wings! Damn, we are lucky bastards!

Mr. Byrne...
Yup, thank you for the reminder about Surfer and others “sensing” the presence of Dark Phoenix.
Here’s hoping Silver Surfer is up to the task.
Also allow me to add that the latest page (along with all others) is just a beauty.
You are inspiring me in the same way you did long ago when I opened up your early Iron Fist work. I pick my jaw up off the floor...and go draw some comics.
Thanks.

It’s probably best you don’t. You’d be impossible to deal with.

That commission above strikes me as Doom vs Dark Phoenix with the FF caught in the middle...

Years ago, when Marc Guggenheim kindly invited me to visit the studio of LAW & ORDER in lower Manhattan, I told him I thought they should add a new series, LAW & ORDER - THE REST OF THE STORY. It would be all about the people in those little snippets of lives we saw in the teasers, before the crime was revealed. Now I’m thinking if/when I run out of ideas on ELSEWHEN, I should start a new “imaginary series” telling the backstory on some of these commissions!
