JB,

Have you ever been approached with the idea of doing a Star Wars series?  This would be pretty cool to have you at the helm.  I'm a big fan of Star Wars and some of the stories could use your imagination (story and art) to boost up more interest.

So I decided to check and it looks like the WW section was updated yesterday.

I hate to answer a question with one but I will, Why do you ask? I enjoyed the art on WW. Is the WW title the one that you get the most negitive feedback on?

Well, I bought it all, as it came out Guv!

But from what I observed in the artwork, the art at the end was not the same, stylistically, as the art at the outset.

Although I thought the art at the start was good, it was, IMO, not a patch on how I felt the book was, coming to the end of your tenure! It was like you were really tapping a veign at that point.

So, maybe there was an element of that development where some fans felt you'd lost them, be that at the start or the end, I couldn't say.

Then again, it's a fathomless path trying to ponder the why's and wherefors of fickle fans, who at one moment hate everything you've done but at the same time have to check out everything you do!

edit "then" for "the"

I don't mean to answer a question with one but, Why do you ask? I enjoyed the art on
WW.

••

At the time, WONDER WOMAN was hit with all the usual mantras -- no backgrounds,
all the faces are the same, scratchy inks, looks rushed, etc, etc. Looking at those
posted pages -- which I think anybody would agree if a pretty random selection, I see
none of these things. So where did the complaints come from?

hmm, something was *wrong* with JB's WW art?

I hadn't noticed at the time; I thought I really liked it. I'll have to go back and
see if I can find something wrong with it now.

I truly think this breaks down to the Pros Vs Fans thing. What I mean by this is... I like what I like but if you ask me how a page looks "rushed" I'll be damned if I could tell you. You pointed out that one of the things you noticed about how you drew faces years ago was that they looked "pinched" ...still don't know what that means....Did you draw a page for Uncanny X-Men that did not clik with me? Yes. Did you draw a page for Generations that did not clik or WW or FX...yes. but I'm a fan not a pro. I ride the wave that is your art and story telling, and have enjoyed it for over 30 years. If you (the fan) have to take time on the net and complain about somthing like scratchy inks well IMHO stop, you have crossed the line and no longer read comics for what they are intended...Enjoyment.

Again I enjoyed your WW art John.

Ultimately I think comic appreciation is a subjective thing; what one person loves, another may hate. Therefore each opinion is valid for the person making it but not necessarily the masses.

D.O.A is now two pages lighter for my latest visit. :-)
