Aside from the missing belt (which is missing, of course, due to the story point of the Joker taking it away), that may indeed be the single best Batman drawing ever.

Aside from the missing belt
*****
Which has been redrawn onto Batman in at least three variations in various reprints or house ads. In interviews, when asked about it, Denny (or maybe even Neal) said it was a mistake, but I think they're both forgetting about the Joker angle. Isn't the belt absent when Batman is in the Shark tank? It also gets my vote as the single greatest / most iconic Batman image ever.

++++++++++
In the original, yes. For some reprints, no.

Ah, so the belt is either pencil thin, or batman stopped working out.

He's wearing the belt until after he kills the shark, as I recall. When his cuffs are gone, so is the belt. I took that to mean he removed his belt to get the cuffs off, and/or to try to find a way to break the tank's glass wall before the old timer in the tank with him drowned.
