Nope. Sorry. This will be—with some minor modifications to make it less episodic—just what you saw here.

Saw a most curious bit of logic.

Apparently Marvel blackballed me, years ago. They subsequently realized this was a big mistake, so publishing ELSEWHEN is their “desperate” attempt to correct it.

Well, at least they have imagination. That is a sort of fanfiction. Next you will live in a city in the Sky, that can be accessed only by a portal in the torch of the Statue of Liberty. Of course your mood swings due to the teleportation process, it does something  to your blood and you gets mad at innocent fans. The only other link to the sky city is an internet forum. Rumor has it of fans disapearing at conventions years ago, whose broken bodies have been found accross the USA (some parts of the country, particularly), and it was said they were taken to the city and made walk the plank. This is also how some members seem to disapear from the JBF... who could be more naīve than those, and innocently follow... you know who you know where....

Indeed; why expend any effort researching history or fact, when one can  independently conjecture and speculate until one perceives a pattern that fits one's limited logic.

I am excited to see Elsewhen finished, and also to have the scans of the original pages for comparison and reference. It's been great fun seeing all the people who inked the scans, and I also will enjoy seeing the entire thing inked by JB, Paul, and others in the published volumes.

Thanks, Matt! It's a real joy to share the inking duties on ELSEWHEN. I'm certainly not taking it for granted. I've studied some of the best inkers over JB (and also others who haven't inked JB - Dave Stevens, for instance). I think my style has benefited from all those great inkers! I've always liked JB's art best when the inker doesn't overpower his pencils, but just make them look great in ink form. That is my ultimate goal.

Along the way, It's been fun to discover and put to use various inking tools and see which works best for the textures needed.

As a side note - starting to see some of my previous inks being used and colored around the internet - which isn't a good indication of where I am now, so I can't wait for the big reveal in April!

As a side note #2 - John Byrne has been so helpful along the way, and not one iota of the 'hard to work with' tag that unfortunately pops up from time to time.

Chris Ryall reports good order numbers.

Not dead yet, it would seem!

Yay for that!
Paul, can you tell us the story of how you found out you could be part of
this? It seems like a dream come true.

Out of the blue, I received an inquiry from Chris Ryall expressing interest based on some of my previous ink postings and asked (if interested) would I submit some current sample pages for John Byrne and Marvel to look over. After I came to, I worked on a few pages and sent them over. Thankfully, they were all impressed enough to offer the gig.
I'm really hoping I'm not going to wake up one day and find out this was all but a dream...

What a moment! Having submitted quite a lot of things and then faced one eternity of waiting after another-- I can only imagine how great it felt to get the thumbs up! You faced the pressure and you knew when to STOP and hit "send"! Great job!

Paul might find this amusing:

Chris sent me a bunch of anonymous samples, from various sources. I rejected all of them.

Then I took a stroll thru the examples to be found in the inking thread. Landed on what Paul had done and liked what I saw. I told Chris.

“He’s one of the anonymous ones you rejected!” said Mr. Ryall.

Fate moves in mysterious ways.
