I never got the feeling they were mocking the design that much.  I love my Star Spangled man (with a plan)... and I love him just as much without the war film props... just as a straight up Cap figure.  I'd love to get a 98 lbs weakling version of Steve too!!  I just loved the first half of CP:TFA before it went all war montage on us.  That just seemed like Captain America to me.... then he threw guys out of planes... Cap don't kill (cept Baron Blood and even that tore him up inside)

Hahahaha.  Mocking him just enough.

In the film... I felt that Steve disliked the costume because it represented his failure to make it to the war.  It wasn't until he broke his chains and saved the POWs that he saw the power of the symbolism.  That was how I saw it.

I didn't like that his ears are not outside his cowl... but I see that as a tip of the cap to the old Captain America serials back in the day.

To me though, this is the most comics accurate version of Captain America in 6th scale.

I have a deep appreciation for that character for sure. Its an odd person for a Canadian to identify with so much.  I like the Man out of time aspect... I love anything WWII... so that hits on a couple levels.  PLUS... the moral code and the Charles Atlas like little guy fighting for what is right... That is why I love Captain America and I think they got that part of him right at the beginning of the movie.  Like I said above, I disliked him killing Hydra soldiers... I also liked that he went to war and didn't kill anyone and he was skilled enough to do that.  That frail Steve Rogers reminds me of a childhood friend... his big mouth and moral code got him in a lot of trouble.

So while John Byrne sees filmmakers disrespecting his work and especially Joe Simon & Jack Kirby's work... on the costume... I see the best version of the character of Steve Rogers to hit the screen.  Being old enough to remember the serials and the 70s TV movies and the defunts late 80s early 90s movie version.

My favourite parts of the movie are him jumping on the grenade to protect those who will be the sucess of the program... or him gutting out the extreme pain to complete the experiment... even if it was gonna kill him... he was doing his part.

Hey Gang... I have to figure out the approximate value of my framed JB commission for insurance purposes.  Any idea what something like this is worth these days?  I know how much I paid in 2014, but have no idea what this would be worth today and comic artwork auction sites really are no help.

Its the HULK vs Sasquatch and Guardian.  It is on page 76 of this thread.

I am hoping some of you have had your art appraised or know an approximate value.  I can find comic book PAGES  for sale, but the commissions are hard to find. in fact, the ones I do find online are usually NFS... so its kinda difficult to gauge its worth.

Any help would be appreciated.

Typically, the insurance company will insure the item based on what you paid for the item. They will sometimes allow for an appraisal, but generally consider appraisal's worthless. They will sometimes ALSO allow for market value given similar sales of like items in the last six months. That's going to be difficult given the market for commissions, but not impossible.

First step would be finding out the underwriting guidelines for your given carrier.

Thanks Jason!  That market value thing could be a big kick in the nuts. I couldn't find many (if any) comps on the market.

Took me only 2 years, but...


I gave up on waiting for an opportunity to meet Kyle Baker to get this signed by him as well - I know I'll regret that one day, but he doesn't seem to do shows in NJ, only on Long Island where I presume he lives. Curse you, Belt Parkway.

Given the way the page was cut, I went for a background matte so I can keep JB's funny liner notes visible:



I also framed an oil painting of the cover of WOLVERINE#17 that I bought online from the painter, but since it's not truly JB's work I'll leave it out here.

I'm crossing my fingers that JB inks this page himself. I'll buy it when it becomes available either way because I trust Paul's abilities, but still it would be an extra bonus. I figure maybe I'll mount it right under the pencil version, or I'll shift things around so they are side-by-side.
