Darren- your inking is so descriptive of the form, I also checked out the studio 108 thread and the way you render the smoke path coming off your character is really cool!

Thanks Teod. I tend to feel when I'm drawing well it's less "drawing" and more "sculpting". The nib of my pen/pencil/brush-tip is defining the model. So I tend to try and use the crosshatching, following the contour lines of the model.

Of course, most times I'm not drawing well (for me) but I still enjoy none-the-less.

Thanks for the kudos though, it's helped pick me up!

Darren did you ever see the documentary about R. Crumb?

It is amazing; well his brother Charles had a drawing style that he did when he was young where he used mass amounts of contour lines to describe form. It is pretty interesting as you see his progression in his drawing. The contour lines start off quite elegant and over time become thicker and thicker until everything is covered in this line.

---------------WOW small earthquake just hit--------------

Okay back to what I was saying before the little shake. You might get a kick out of this film. A bit of a warning though it does get explicit with crumb's life and drawing about women.

No Teod, I didn't. Not "avoiding" it, just never seen it.

Hell Bunny...

Now I know the loathing Ralphie felt in "A Christmas Story." It was not of his making, he knew of the horror that is HELL BUNNY!

Lot of great artwork posted in this thread, although it sometimes seems that a more appropriate thread title would be "Anthony C/Darren T. Lovefest."

With my 1000th post looming, I'm working on a piece to celebrate. I'm about half way through it and it features four Avengers...

This being post 997 it isn't far away, so back to the drawing board for me;-)

Mr. Castrillo and Mr. Taylor, I did not at all mean to imply anything tongue in cheek or ribald in my comment about "lovefest."

It's too bad that everything in common vernacular has degenerated into the worst common denominator connotation.  My bad this time.  I should have been clearer.

I intended to imply that this thread (60+ pages) seemed to predominantly feature your posted artworks and "lots" of favorable comments posted in response.

I hope you read this explanation.  I don't want to be damned after all.

Chuck, I thought you were dead on accurate! Everyone loves us;-)

LOL.

As Mac said, we tend to post a lot more -frequently- so we are sort of stealing all the attention-LOL but there are many fantastic pieces of art shown in the sixty-odd pages as you rightly note.

MAC, one funny thing about my "signature."  Everytime I read it, I "hear" it spoken by actor Lee Marvin (Rest his soul).

Your artwork is tops.
