Over the past few days, I have been playing around with the script for this “issue”. Looking for the right “voice”, basically. And something has begun to swirl in my brain. Perhaps it’s rereading some of those “contemporary” issues. But I begin to wonder if I should revert to something I consciously abandoned some thirty five years ago. Narrative captions, anyone?

I love narrative captions. I'd say go for it.

I vote Yes on narrative captions - you handled them better in the past than other writers because you have a stronger narrator voice than most. And we can trust you to not overdo it!

Not a big fan of captions. Such a fine line between a brief account and too much info.
If I read anyone's it would be JB's.

Narrative captions are one of those tools that comics have that are distinct to the medium. I like them, just as I like thought balloons.
People constantly point out that movies and television shows are not comics. Well, the reverse is true, then. Rather than shy away from such conventions of the medium, I say they should be embraced.
So, yeah... I vote yes.

I vote yes for narrative captions.
I won't mention the other thing I miss that used to be prevalent.

I think narative captions will give it a classic feel. Succinct storytelling is a stongpoint of yours, JB.
On a side note, are the natives in the Savage Land wearing body paint?

Narration and thought balloons definitely "continue" the feel of the original run.Speaking of, if "Untold Story" is your "official" issue 137, would you include 138 with the original framing as the next issue before Elsewhen or would you just jump to your first issue and use the Elsewhen story to fill in the gaps between the ending of Untold Story and Elsewhen
(and if we include 138, it would be fantastic to see new framing and dialogue / narration)

That was my thought, too. Narative captions feel like a very Marvel thing. Stan Lee had is own style of using these, and of course so did Claremont on the X-Men. JB, you've used them to great effect during your Marvel work as well. Something about them just feel like they're part of the Marvel storytelling method.
