Something prompted me to look up this thread this morning, and the result was a bit of a shocker.

I acquired my dog Gwynne the day after Florence died, which means come August, having been a year old when I got her, she will be 14, not 12 as I have been telling myself.

I feel as if I just lost two years of her life!

What's that Mark Twain Saying? Something like "if god
existed dog's would have the same lifespan of humans"?

I've heard it as "There is no greater proof of the NON-existence of God than the lifespan of a dog."

Watching an episode of WAREHOUSE 13 the other day, in which Artie comments that a recently acquired dog owns him. Someone else says we own dogs, not the other way around. Artie disputes this' "Dogs own us. Cats are prisoners, but dogs own us."

I stopped counting my dog's birthday at 10 hoping that I'll gain some extra years! I'm pretty sure that's how it works

Yes That's it, i misremembered it.

My current rescue dog Fudge, i've had 6 years and he was
estimated to be between 3 and 5, so he's potentially around
11. He's still fit and strong, but his black fur is
peppered with white now.

It’s been fascinating watching Gwynne develop more and more white around her muzzle. She now looks more like Ace the Bathound than ever!
