I like Kingpin as Spider-Man's enemy. Probably more than as Daredevil's enemy. And it's a unique concept that he was very muscular under the fat. But I was always confused when he said he his weight was 2% fat in Spider-Man TAS. Because that math doesn't work at all.

Well, Spider-Man hangs and swings about New York most days , so Firelord probably got New York pizza, which explains the indigestion and weakened state. Perhaps Firelord should have went to Chicago?

Kingpin works better as a manipulator behind the scenes. He really shouldn't have a chance fighting Spider-Man, while Daredevil ought to push him to his limits. You have to nerf Spider-Man pretty hard to make that fight to work out.

As a herald of Galactus, how can being that can survive indefinitely in space and has flown around the rim of stars (if not into them) be harmed/weakened by a mere gas/oil explosion!?!?!?!?!?
On top of all that, he's FIRE-Lord. I would think he would thrive on such a thing (if it made any difference at all).
It would be like throwing rocks at Terrax.

First-time poster here, and apologies for the late reply. Spider-Man vs Kingpin may be an even fight as Spidey is supposed to be "holding back". As written in Amazing Spider-Man #542, however, Peter Parker vs. Spider-Man is a different matter.

Is Kingpin not superhumanly strong in effect? He isn't officially considered a mutant or mutate but clearly has greater strength than almost any living person.
'Normal' humans in DC or Marvel have much higher maximum capacities than real humans do.

Kingpin is supposed to be strong like a sumo is strong or strong like one of the huge bloke's in the World's Strongest Man contest. There is nothing superhuman about that.
Martial arts usually make considerations for weight because it has a such a huge bearing on who wins in a fight that is otherwise equal. Kingpin is huge; he is heavy; he is strong. This makes him a dangerous opponent for someone like Daredevil.
But, I think, for Spider-Man it doesn't, with the exception of the first time they fought, where Spider-Man might be complacent. After that, Spider-Man's superhuman speed, agility and strength should mean (story needs apart) that it would be a one-sided fight. Of course, a good writer should be able to spin a yarn that doesn't go that way.

If it's written as 'Magic takes away Superman's powers', then Mjolnir takes him out in one panel...and then Thor probably soliloquizes for a bit.If it's written as 'Superman still has his powers, but magic makes them ineffective', it could last til a second page...then some other plot device takes away the hammer.

I don’t think Thor has any magic that’ll take Superman’s powers away. It’s just that he is as susceptible to magic as any regular person. He would still have heat vision and be able to fly and whatnot. He just wouldn’t have any kind of special defense against anything mystical in nature.
