Who is faster, Thor’s Hammer or Superman? ••• Hmmmm….. Does Mjolnir have any inherent speed, or is it dependent on how hard Thor throws it?

I think its inherent speed, under Thor's control, though. It's enchanted enough to break the barriers of space/time, but that's not how Thor employs it every single time it's hurled.

Why would a hammer move at different speed from which it is thrown? (Other than slowing down with distance in an atmosphere, of course).
Even during Walt’s run, he would have Thor refer to its power and how hard he would throw it.

I think with Superman's crazy speed, he becomes very difficult to hit. It's not a proper comic book battle, but the right strategy, presuming the battle takes place on earth, would be for Superman to fly to a distance a few miles away from Thor and maintain that distance between himself and Thor at all times, while moving very rapidly and unpredictably at super speed. And then pot shot him with heat vision which travels at the speed of light.

Isn’t the correct answer, “whoever the writer decides”?

Yes, Thor can beat Superman.
And Superman can beat Thor.
Depends on the story.

Superman is the last guy I’d bet against, hands down, any fight.

To be honest, I can’t imagine anything but a draw. These are two good, heroic, noble characters, who don’t engage in violence without good cause, and I can’t see them fighting without realizing at some point that this is not a ’good fight’. They would spot eachothers inherit goodness while battling, like protecting civilians and so on, and that would end it.

Given their respective skillsets, Superman can defeat Thor in a matter of seconds, hitting him 1000 times before Thor can start spinning the hammer.
As for Mjolnir hitting Superman, I don't think it would have any effect. Superman can match the speed of Thor's blows so easily that when the hammer hits him, the comparative speed is so low it's basically ineffective. Other than that, in my mind, Superman is far stronger than Thor, so even without super speed he still has the edge.
Of course, super speed is so badly used in comics, movies, TV that people forget what it really means. In truth, super speed makes almost any fight uninteresting.
If Thor's lightning bolts are magic and if he has a chance to have them hit Superman, is the only scenario Superman loses. It takes a lot of work on the part of the writer to arrange the circumstances so.

I'm 100% positive Clark Kent could beat Don Blake.
