Bill, was just going to mention the wonderful coastal town, Llandudno, where we stayed in Wales last summer on the way to visiting Portmeirion, the iconic "village" Patrick McGoohan's "the Prisoner" was trying to escape each week in the 1960s. Clan-did-no.

Speaking of Llandudno, where I spent my first 4 and a half years, I have a feeling, looking at the pier, that the Klingons may have visited at some point!

Brilliant! Makes you wonder if a Klingon visit in the
distant past influenced the Welsh language!

Rick, been to Portmeirion a couple of times and it was
magical.

… been to Portmeirion a couple of times and it was magical.

•••

When my father came out of the British Army at the end of WWII, he was given a choice of where he would be “demobbed” (demobilized) to.* Indulging in a bit of whimsy, he chose Portmeirion, making his way home to West Bromwich on his own after a week or so.

Twenty years later, he was much amused when the village became the Village, and he was able to impress me by saying he’d been there.

____

*This was SOP apparently.

I know it’s sad, I know it was years ago, but I still get an immense kick when
you mention the places I now drive around in a daily basis.
That my favourite writer/artist lived in the town next door to where I now live
never fails to bring a smile.
West Brom.
Love it.

With all the times my family moved when I was a kid—all together now! Nine schools in eleven years!—I sometimes wonder about who might be occupying some of my old spaces.

Who lives in the apartment where I drew all my X-MEN issues, for instance. Would it mean anything to them if they knew?

...J.B. was from Walsall ...

Only in the most generous usage. I was born in Walsall, but spent less than two days there. Haven't been back.

There is a certain amount of pride upon learning your heroes have
something in common with you. Walt was born and lived in TN for a while?
Awesome!! Michael Turner was born and raised the next town over from
me? Sweet.

I was at one of my centers yesterday and actually discovered that Little
Richard passed away there. This small little two-bit town and this is where
he died? Boggled my mind.
