Reading this first issue in this way has been an absolute thrill. The sneaks that we saw of the art without the narration/dialogue were fantastic, but reading this with the narration/dialogue brings it to a whole new level. It's so amazing to experience the story in this way.
I am sure it would be interesting to see an inker tackle these pages, but I am very glad that we are experiencing this story for the first time as pencils. The look and feel is just wonderful - there is a depth to this art that I can't get enough of.
And I think it's really appropriate for this to be in pencils for another reason -- a lot of fans of the Dark Phoenix saga were made aware of the original ending when we saw JB's abandoned pencils to #138, in which we saw a pastoral scene of Jean and Scott in the aftermath the Dark Phoenix ordeal. We are now in that penciled alternate universe that we only got a taste of, and I am so excited to be along for the ride.
This all comes on the heels of the JB X-MEN ARTIFACT EDITION - its just been such a great time for fans of JB's X-Men work. I can't thank you enough, JB!!

What is up with these viewing numbers are they going around, being maxed out and going around again? The numbers were higher yesterday than today. Seems wholly unreliable.

The numbers are definitely counting - I've just clicked the thread, clicked fan fic, clicked the thread, clicked fan fic and the number went up by two.So something else is happening to make them go down

Modok in an X-Men comic? Definitely curious to see what plans he and AIM have in store for the Savage Land.

Something new with Kitty’s powers!? She’s partially phased, and the guy is able to grab her. Have we seen this before?

As we get into some Kitty stuff with the latest posted page, I think I should remind everyone that I am portraying her powers as I intended when I created her, not as Chris wrote them. She doesn't "swim" thru matter, with it passing around her like liquid. Her individual atoms pass between the atoms of whatever she penetrates.(I'm also playing Nightcrawler as Len Wein originally intended, but that's not likely to make a lot of difference.)

Based on GIANT-SIZE X-MEN, less a jester, I should think. Because of his startling appearance, a misfit even among mutants.

Sweet.. new pages are coming. I like how you created new panels around the Sauron vs Wolverine page, the bottom panel of Cyclops and Storm is particularly nice. I join the chorus of fans who would have loved to have been able to go the the LCS and pick this issue up... however this is a cool and unique way to read a comic!

Ah, yes. Mr. Claremont did indeed deviate on that score.

Was in called an 'indicia', the bit at the bottom of the first page of a comic?
Publishers details.
That is what I thought initially on seeing the byrnerobotics.com address on the new page. Love it.
Not only getting the fabulous artwork but getting to be reintroduced to these wonderful characters again. So grateful.
