I wholeheartedly concur! The three expressions as Kurt teleports her out of harm's way each convey different, shifting emotions; and something about her eyes as she says "The X-Men don't surrender!" don't match the steely resolve of her words. JB, the choice not to have her brow fixed in a "stereotypical furrow" is intriguing ... and beautifully rendered!

Kevin - you know how every once in a while somebody says something that causes me to declare I’ve wasted my whole professional life? You just did the opposite. Thanks!

Meanwhile, views of the art thread seem to be holding north of 25K, but the first "issue" doesn't show much interest.

At the same time, views of this thread just jumped to 129,000+!!

I see continued speculation online about why I chose to "publish" this here, instead of at Marvel. The recurrent favorite is MONEY. Marvel didn't offer me enough, or Marvel refused to pay what I was demanding.*

Now, I could see that kind of speculation being tossed around BEFORE I started presenting ELSEWHEN here on the Forum. After all, there are far too many "fans" who think everything is about money. But once I started GIVING IT AWAY FOR FREE???

I go back again to the line from EVIL ROY SLADE: “I never changed my mind before. Does it hurt?"

Honestly, I don't really have to know why it didn't pan out with Marvel...

Since doing it on your own (and it being outside established continuity anyway) allows you to plot it as you intended without interference, I'm good on my end.

I'm also happy to see Wolverine isn't the focus here.  The movies made the unfortunate narrative mistake of not giving each character their share of the limelight (yet another reason/main reason the dark phoenix movies didn't work:  they forgot that Scott and Jean's being fully developed characters that we cared about was key before even trying to do those movies, as I'm sure you're aware).

I mean I happen to like Wolverine, and (as I've said) Jean, buuuut... I also like Cylcops, Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Kitty too!

I doubt it. It would be a slippery slope, if so, since no money is involved. If they went after this, they'd have to go after every artist who posted images for free using their characters online. There goes all the artists who advertise commissions using art featuring company owned characters,  and sites like Deviant Art would be closed down. Marvel may technically still have a right to do something,  but I don't see them acting on it if they haven't done so in all those other instances.

As I said a while back, I truly am a LEGEND--defined as stories that are mostly not true, but that people believe anyway.
