•• Here we see one of the many manifestations of how much fun it was working at Marvel in that period. Shooter, when I took on the FF, challenged me to "restore Galactus". So I spent a couple of years doing so. Claremont did not approve of how I handled it and, without permission from the FF Editorial office, had Lilandra confront and threaten Reed and Sue in their own bedroom. When I saw it (after publication, of course) I was livid. I called Shooter--Mr. "Everything Must Be Approved By The Editors" himself—and demanded some kind of published retraction in the books. He said "respond to it in your story!" Which I did, and the story turned out pretty good, but to this day I remain frustrated that I was FORCED to do it. (Somewhat ironically, much as Chris was forced to do the Death of Phoenix.)
