The key is to remember Xavier and Moira were testifying before Kelly's committee with no awareness of what Kate had told the X-Men back in Westchester. Some of the broader strokes remain the same in the ELSEWHEN timeline.

Aha, I had forgotten that. Sounds like we missed an interesting tale of Xavier keeping them all at bay until the X-Men arrived!

Mind blown.
Not just by the concept of Mystique's attack being in the past, but by the audacity to lay it in as an aside! I love it.
If readers did not have access to the other timeline, it seems like this panel would be one of those "so? are you going to tell us the rest of the story?" things that crop up every now and then.
I guess I'm thinking that if you still get people asking to tell what the Silver Surfer did when he sensed Dark Phoenix, this "untold" Mystique attack would get considerable fan-attention too.
But another thought: if Days of Future Past played out as originally intended, could this be about the amount of ripple it would leave? It was nearly a self-cancelling adventure. Is there room here for some version of the future Kate to still be involved?
I love this series!

Without spoilers, all I can say is that there is STUFF coming which will radically alter everything you know about DoFP. And I do mean EVERYTHING!

Can't wait.
Just a question: Mystique's New Brotherhood is the same we saw in Uncanny X-Men 141?

Jayzus. Not only is that page a nice little poke in the Proustian Rush with that era's Avengers line-up, it's also a freakishly good one-page masterclass in rendering textures. We've got metal, fur, chain-mail (!), leather, polished wood, foliage, rubble, and multiple kinds of fabric with the usual casual mastery of drapery. Now you're just showing off.

There are a few points that need to be underscored, I guess. First, as already noted, Xavier and Moira were in Washington without having had contact with future Kate. So that would have proceeded as it did. Also, remember--and this is a biggie--that even after the X-Men saved Senator Kelly, Sebastian Shaw was still able to convince the President Project Wideawake was necessary. There's a lot of Bad Stuff going down even in this altered timeline.

I know you prefer the Beast without the blue fur, JB, but you sure can’t tell it. No one draws him in this form better.
I know it’s been mentioned before, but the way you’ve been sharing faces lately is most excellent. You’re really upping the photorealism with your faces in this series and it seems to get better with each issue.
Man, I hope Thor shows up too.
